Summary

The accounts processing officer supports the accounts team leader with daily and weekly accounting functions, enabling accurate and timely reporting. This role is part of an AAT apprenticeship starting at AAT Level 3 and working up to a full qualification. You will be required to attend all study sessions and complete all exams where applicable.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Accurate data in compliance with applicable legislation
  • Assist with administration of receivable and payable processes
  • Complete regulatory checks on cash transactions in and rectify issues within timeframe
  • Assist with preparation of weekly/monthly cash postings
  • Assist with preparation of ad hoc journal postings (e.g. loan interest, adjustments)
  • Assist with preparation of monthly finance packs for executive reporting
  • Assist with given project work
  • Complete all mandatory training issued by Vision or Rathbones within the deadlines
  • Job swap with other teams in head office to gain a wider understanding of how Vision functions as a whole
  • Attend all AAT sessions and complete exams working towards their AAT qualification
  • Extra study time will be given where needed and time will be given for off-the-job learning
  • Acts with the best interest of clients at all times
  • Must be self-motivated and enjoy working in a small team environment
  • Takes responsibility for managing individual workload
  • Communicates clearly and willingly with all members of the team and advisor community

What you'll learn

  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
