Summary

Our workshop offers all aspects of scenic building from MIG and aluminium welding to traditional woodworking methods and vac form detailing. This role allows you to work as part of a small team with its main focus falling within fabrication, welding and metalwork to support the design and production build of scenery.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Work on projects independently or as a team. 
  • Make sure you keep workspaces tidy and safe.
  • Always be willing to assist other members of staff when lifting or moving scenery.
  • Be aware of your surroundings when Health and Safety is concerned.
  • Be able to solve problems and overcome challenges.
  • Cutting, drilling and welding metals.
  • Fabrication and assembly of metal parts joining techniques
  • Work with a variety of materials to produce scenery
  • Preparing materials and equipment for cutting or welding processes
  • Specific safe working practices, isolation procedures and safe reinstating of equipment/system that need to be observed
  • Join the materials using the appropriate methods and techniques

GCSE in:

  • Art/ Design Technology (grade 4/C)
  • Science (grade 4/C)
