Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key roles & responsibilities:

  • Assisting experienced engineers with routine tasks such as assembling/ testing, and repairing equipment.
  • Execution of reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Conducting inspections, testing, adjustments, periodic cleaning, and monitoring tasks as required to maintain efficient plant and improve equipment reliability.
  • Co-operating and collaborating with other team members to continually drive our proactive engineering program and report back reliability issues within the plant.
  • Adherence to organisation policies and Site EHS requirements.
  • Learning to operate machinery and tools safely.
  • Following drawings and schematics.
  • Learning and using a mix of skills such as fabricating, machining, plumbing and other engineering skills necessary to support a fast-paced manufacturing demand.

Your training plan

  • The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (Mechanical / Electro).
  • A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course.
  • This is a predominantly work-based programme with College attendance required once a month. All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours.
