Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, friendly team in the UK and work alongside our colleagues in Germany and France with international travel on offer. The Accounts Apprentice is a varied role to include all aspects of management accounts and parts sales within the aviation industry.

After 2 years continued employment with Global Aviation, employees will become eligible for a company profit sharing bonus paid annually. This is not guaranteed and amount TBC each year.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Prepare monthly management accounts
- Prepare journals including accruals, prepayments, revaluations and depreciation
- Liaise with auditors during year-end audit
- Daily bank reconciliation
- All aspects of credit control
- Complete VAT returns
- Use Sage accounting system
- Answer phone calls from customers
- Produce quotes and covert orders
- Generally learn about the Aviation industry

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
Delivery model:
• Work-based training with your employer
• Day release during term time (approximately 1 day a week)
• Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being
• Level 1 Functional Skills in English (7 days at college, if required)
• Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice’s time at work
Qualifications included:
• Level 1 Functional Skills in English (if required)
• AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting
• Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship
End Point Assessment:

Other requirements
This is a hybrid role primarily working with the Finance Manager, but also within the Aviation Sales team as required, with plenty of scope for personal development and career progression within the company. Travel to customer sites and air shows around the UK and abroad will be required on occasions which could involve overnight stays and work outside the normal hours. Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session: Any new person applying for apprenticeship roles where Abingdon and Witney College deliver the training will be required to attend an Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session at Witney or Abingdon campus. This will consist of a series of initial assessments (required prior to any apprenticeship offer), completion of essential paperwork, the opportunity to find out more about the apprenticeship process, the training included, and a forum for your questions. As a new Apprenticeship applicant, you will only have to undergo this process once. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour from April 2025. This applies to 16 - 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
