Summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team at Cypher, it is an opportunity to experience all areas of accountancy, including, but not limited to, bookkeeping, statutory compliance, company & personal tax, company secretarial, VAT & Payroll. We have a proven track record of taking our staff through training to excel in their career.

Wage

£22,000 a year

We hold an annual salary review and we would look to be increasing salary by £2,000 per completed level of AAT.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Client bookkeeping, using our partner software to assist in invoice capture
  • Management accounts preparation
  • VAT returns
  • Company statutory compliance; Year-end accounts and Corporation tax
  • Personal tax returns
  • Payroll for clients
  • Attend client meetings with seniors
  • Client astonishment; opportunities to liaise with clients
  • Confirmation statements
  • AML delivery

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Delivery model:

  • Work-based training with your employer
  • Day release during term time (approximately 1-day a week)
  • Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English (7-days at college, if required)
  • Off the job training will count for at least 6-hours a week of an apprentice’s time at work

Qualifications included:

  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English (if required)
  • AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship

End Point Assessment:

  • Knowledge Test - Integrated
  • Interview

We are rural located with no direct bus route. We are a dog friendly office. Please apply as soon as possible for this role. Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session: Any new person applying for apprenticeship roles where Abingdon and Witney College deliver the training will be required to attend an Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session at Witney or Abingdon campus. This will consist of a series of initial assessments (required prior to any apprenticeship offer), completion of essential paperwork, the opportunity to find out more about the apprenticeship process, the training included, and a forum for your questions. As a new Apprenticeship applicant, you will only have to undergo this process once. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour from April 2025. This applies to 16 - 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.

After this apprenticeship

We are an office in which most people have taken the route of AAT to then go on to further qualify with either ACCA or ACA, we are open to CIMA (although we do not have experience within our team in this qualification) we would support our staff to finish their studying to the level in which they wish to obtain.

We like to promote staff internally and we have a clear career progression regarding qualifications and job titles.

We hope with our teams’ experience, we would help, support and encourage the apprentices to qualify and excel in their training.
