Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Prepare the classroom for lessons as directed and ensure it is tidied and cleared afterwards.
- Assist in creating and maintaining displays of pupils’ work to enhance the learning environment.
- Monitor and be aware of pupils’ progress, achievements, or any issues, and report these to the teacher as agreed.
- Carry out pupil record-keeping and documentation tasks as requested by the teacher.
- Support the delivery of planned learning activities, ensuring alignment with lesson objectives.
- Collaborate with the teacher to manage pupil behaviour, reporting any concerns or difficulties appropriately.
- Communicate with parents/carers to gather or provide information, following teacher guidance.
- Support pupils in understanding and following instructions during lessons and activities.
- Assist pupils in accessing and engaging with local and national learning strategies (e.g., literacy, numeracy, early years) under the direction of the teacher.
- Help pupils use ICT tools and resources effectively, as directed.
- Prepare, maintain, and assist with classroom equipment and learning resources to support lessons and pupil engagement.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, including before and after school and during lunch breaks, as required.
- Accompany teaching staff and pupils on educational visits, trips, and out-of-school activities, ensuring pupil safety and engagement.

Desirable qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4 - 9 or equivalent)
- Maths (grade 4 - 9 or equivalent)
