The role will provide the opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in accountancy to start their career. It will enable you to develop your accountancy and taxation knowledge and experience working within an accountancy team.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

- Checking and posting purchase invoices using a variety of accountancy software
- Raising sales invoices and credit notes
- Data analysis
- Reconciliation of accounts
- Processing payroll
- Preparation and posting of salary journals
- General administration
- Assisting Senior Bookkeeper and Management Accountant with
- VAT Returns, Month End and Year End Tasks

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
Accounting Technician Level 2. 1 day a week, based at Petroc, Barnstaple Campus.
The apprentice will be working towards the AAT qualification. Starting at level 2 with the prospect of progressing to Level 3 and beyond.
In addition, there will be in house training on various accountancy software platforms.
Beginner to Pro in Excel: Financial Modelling and Valuation course.
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C)
- Maths (grade 4/C)
