Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Using various hand tools for mechanical tasks
- Replacing or repairing joints, bearings, bushes and other components as directed
- Operating rotating wire wheel and grinding wheel machines
- Operating lathes and hydraulic/mechanical presses
- Performing MIG welding tasks
- Spray painting finished assemblies
- Wrapping and packing items securely for dispatch
- Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the facility, including sweeping
