Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This vacancy offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a company with an excellent reputation for high standards of service and quality
This is an engineering apprenticeship that will last up to 42 months
Time will be spent between Make UK’s training facility and in company
Skills you will develop but not an exhaustive list are:
• To produce components using hand fitting techniques
• Preparing and using lathes, milling and CNC machines
• Producing engineering drawings using a CAD system
• This pathway will lead towards becoming a highly skilled engineer

Your training plan

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
  • In house training in line with your requirements
  • Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies and End Point Assessment (EPA), you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
  • Science (or other relevant subject) (grade 4)
