Summary

The English Cheesecake Company Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice Finance Assistant. The accounting assistant would deal with handling finance and admin tasks, plus more.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping:

  • Recording financial transactions including invoices, receipts, payments
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in SAGE
  • Assisting with journal postings and ledger reconciliations

Invoice Processing:

  • Assisting in processing purchase invoices, expenses and credit card payments
  • Raising sales invoices
  • Assisting on the weekly payment runs
  • Assisting of resolution of queries on sales invoices

Data Entry and Management:

  • Entering financial data into accounting systems
  • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity

Administrative Tasks:

  • Assisting with general administrative duties, such as filing and answering phones
  • Preparing reports and documents

Learning and Development:

  • Attending training courses and workshops to develop accounting skills
  • Completing assignments and tests to demonstrate learning
  • Gaining practical experience in a real-world accounting environment

Other potential duties:

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Apprentices will be required to attend college at least x1 day per week either at Uxbridge, Harrow or Hayes Campus completing necessary mandatory training and units associated with the apprenticeship.

The apprentice will be required to complete:

  • Work towards gaining a full Qualification
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours
  • Standard and End Point Assessment
  • Functional Skills in English, maths, and ICT (if required)

Other training will be provided by the employer as required to enable the fulfilment of the job role.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4-9)
  • Maths (grade 4-9)
