Summary
We are seeking an ambitious Finance Assistant to join our team. An opportunity for someone to study for their AAT qualification and who wants to progress. The role is also an integral part of the company’s succession planning and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will develop in due course to potentially head the Finance Department.

What you'll do at work
Due to our continued growth and expansion we are seeking an ambitious Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is studying for their accounting qualification who wants to progress into an assistant accountant. You will report into the Financial Controller. The role is also an integral part of the Company’s succession planning and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will develop in due course to potentially head the Finance Department.
As Finance Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting both the Senior Management Team and the wider team by delivering high quality financial information. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a manufacturing company setting and to further your career in accounting.
Main Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including verifying invoices & coding
- Supplier statement reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of payment runs
- Sales ledger invoice creation
- Processing expense claims
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assist with month-end duties, including accruals and prepayments
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements as required
- Collaborate with other departments to collect necessary information for financial reporting
- Maintenance of supplier and customer databases
- Preparation of delivery and export documentation
- Support any ad-hoc business operations
- Become familiar with all aspects of our MRP software

What you'll learn

- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
Math’s and English GCSE’s (grade 5-9)Desirable qualifications
A Level in:
