Summary

We are looking at placing a Warehouse Apprentice into our Reading branch. This Apprentice position will ensure smooth running of the yard and warehouse whilst maintaining exceptional standards, housekeeping and health & safety. Also this Apprentice position will be an ambassador of the company and key values at all times.

What you'll do at work

Hierarchical reporting: Branch Management

Main activities:

  • Smooth running of the yard & warehouse, maintaining exceptional standards and housekeeping
  • Be part of an outstanding team who consistently deliver an exceptional customer experience as the last face of the branch
  • To be responsible for the key Health & Safety requirements of the yard and warehouse
  • To be an ambassador of the company and key values at all times
  • Prepare and execute shipment in line with company standards and procedures
  • Coordinates with managers and sales associates for the preparation and placement of merchandise on selling floor
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities while replenishing specific quantities throughout the branch
  • Organises and optimises the stock room according to products, colours, sizes, etc.
  • Ensures neat, clear and organised areas throughout the stockroom and selling floor; performs all assigned cleaning duties
  • Ensures unsold and/or returned merchandise is returned to the selling floor

  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Your training plan

  • The candidate will complete an apprenticeship within the agreed
    subject for the vacancy
  • This may include a BTEC Diploma/Standard and End-Point Assessment. It may also include Functional Skills in maths and English
  • The apprentice at the end of this qualification will achieve a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Standard
  • Internal training will be provided on the job, including third party training on equipment, vehicles and products

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4-9)
  • Maths (grade 4-9)

This branch has local transport links. We would ideally like the apprentice to have a driving licence.
