Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The apprentice will receive training to complete the below duties:
- Understanding the working environment, basic processes of fabrication and welding
- Checking off deliveries of materials and their relevance to the project in hand
- Working with individual parts of materials and how they come together to form the larger item
- Understanding fabrication drawings and the process of checking work against them
- Stock control and relevance of it to the wider running of the fabrication workshop
- Involvement with CE Marking and the basic requirements
- General duties which may include anything from keeping a clean work area through to sourcing additional materials stored within the premises, example being structural bolts

Your training plan
- The qualification the apprentice shall recieve at the end of the apprenticeship will be the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard
- Day release will involve attending SBC Training in Shrewsbury one day a week
- Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours – Learners and employers will have a range of options to select from that cover each knowledge module of the apprenticeship standard
- Functional Skills - These provide practical skills to help gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Learners will complete written and online tests
- End point assessment - The End Point Assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship. It comprises written and practical tests as well as a professional dialogue and interview

GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4/C)
- Mathematics (grade 4/C)
Other in:
