Summary
You will be reporting to the Partners or Semi-Senior Accountant and assisting with bookkeeping, VAT returns and accounts preparation for a wide variety of business sectors, as well as other accounts and general office duties. We’ve been around for over 30 years, going above and beyond for ambitious business owners.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Reporting to your manager, your typical roles will include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Bookkeeping for clients (learning fundamentals of debits & credits).
- Working towards the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Calculating & submitting VAT returns.
- Understanding and identifying different cost classifications (e.g. expenses & capital expenditure).
- Creating and maintaining a range of accounting spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
- Learning to use accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks, Sage and Kashflow, General finance admin tasks as and when required.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN). And Hereford.
You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.
More training information
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accountants AAT qualification.
There is also a five-day team-building residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on the programme.

GCSE in:
