Summary

We are looking for an energetic, bubbly, hard worker to join our small setting to help us with our growing roster of children. We have been running for the last 30 years and have recently branched out into Forest School too! We are looking for an apprentice who loves children, loves the outdoors and wants a great place to advance their careers!

Wage

£15,704 to £25,396.80, depending on your age

We intend to start apprentices at the national minimum wage but will regularly assess performance to be able to raise pay. We also expect to raise pay once course has been completed.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

We are a small Early Years setting in North London. The apprentice will form part of a small active team, looking after the daily needs of the children who come each day. Once settled, the apprentice will become a key member of the team and look out for the development goals and milestones of their key children.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).
  • Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.
  • Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.
  • Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional, collaborative relationships with others involved in the education and care of the child.
  • Undertake the role and responsibilities of key person.
  • Recognise and apply theories of attachment to develop effective relationships with children.
  • Provide sensitive and respectful personal care for children from birth to 5 years.
  • Advocate for all children’s needs, including children which require SEND or EAL support.
  • Promote and facilitate children’s interpersonal communication to develop their social interactions and relationships.
  • Support children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture.
  • Support children to understand and respond to their emotions and make considered choices about their behaviours.
  • Assess the responsiveness of the environment for effective child-centred experiences in line with curriculum requirements.

Your training plan

We are offering apprenticeship in level 3- Early years Educator. The training will be carried out on the Job at our setting in N22 north London.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4-9)
  • Maths (grade 4-9)

Other requirements

Please note -we spend 50% of our time outdoors each day come rain or shine. -the work can be physically taxing so we need you fit and well to be able to carry equipment and children. -if you need to work more or less hours we are open to discussing this.

About this company

We are a small home based setting in North London. Are trading name is Annie and Co but most people know us as 'Annie's House'. We have been going for over 30 years in the same house and have cared for over 100 children in that time. We spend half our time at the house and half at a local Forest and our kids are very active. We love what we do and are passionate about giving our kids the best start in life with enriching experiences and help reaching their developmental goals.

After this apprenticeship

On completion of the course we will be able to offer further level 5 apprentiships, forest school courses or further training into setting/ shift management.
