We are currently seeking a Mortgage Adviser Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our organisation, you will play a crucial role in providing expert mortgage advice to clients, ensuring their financial goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Once experienced and qualified, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing to customers a full advice and recommendation service in accordance with the firm’s values, scope of service, regulatory and compliance requirements whilst maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Principal tasks (with supervision during the training period): To be undertaken in compliance at all times with the firm’s policies and procedures.
- Using effective questioning skills to establish customer needs, recommend the most suitable product to the customer face to face or over the phone
- Be the customer’s primary contact throughout the mortgage application process up to the point of mortgage completion
- Ensure that all advice is given on the basis of a full and detailed fact find which complies with both the firm’s and the FCA’s requirements
- Maintain accurate and relevant customer records
- Present appropriate recommendations in a clear, concise and accurate manner, both verbally and in writing
- Project a professional image to your customers, colleagues and all relevant third parties
- Build strong customer relationships and provide an excellent customer experience, whilst adhering at all times to the firm’s procedures and the FCAs regulations and guidance
- Comply with the Conduct Rules
- Maintain an excellent knowledge of lender mortgage products, underwriting and affordability requirements
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of all other products and services offered by the firm and associated companies
- During fact find process gather sufficient information to establish the customer’s needs for general insurance and pure protection products and, where appropriate, make a personal recommendation
- Act promptly and in an appropriate and courteous manner in response to any customer complaints in accordance with firm’s procedures
- Understand what Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) means in regard to the firm and embed this fully within your work
- Actively participate in one-to-one review meetings, coaching and training as required by your Supervisor
- Meet agreed performance goals
- Maintain your professional expertise through course attendance, reading of financial journals, and further training where relevant, in line with but not limited to CPD requirements laid down within the firm’s Training and Competence scheme
- Ensure that your knowledge and use of the Client Management System is accurate and appropriate; maintain and develop this knowledge
- Deal with general tasks and special projects that are customer or mortgage advice related
- Attend functions to promote the firm’s products and services, as necessary
- Attend internal or external meetings as required
- Undertake any other related tasks requested by the Supervisor

Course contents
- The ability to elicit customer's needs through effective fact finding and questioning techniques and provides solutions thorough research and analysis. Can plan and prioritise workloads and deliver all required outputs to customers and colleagues; achieving all internal standards (e.g. service standards, accuracy, attention to detail, meeting required risk, regulatory and governance requirements).
- Has high quality written and verbal communication skills and is able to handle a range of situations and issues that arise. Has the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, professional contacts and third party product providers.
- An understanding of regulatory requirements by working compliantly, including data protection and treating customers fairly. Identify specific threats to the business and act appropriately in line with regulation and governance. E.g. ensuring that confidential information is only shared with the relevant people.
- The ability to identify, generate and develop relationships that support the role. E.g. professional contacts, new business opportunities through internal/external networking and customer referrals.
- Adheres to all relevant processes and procedures using technical ability and proficient IT skills to deliver positive outcomes for customers and the business, within the risk, regulatory and governance requirements.

Through job-based training and study towards a highly respected benchmark qualification, the apprentice will become a competent and confident mortgage adviser

Professional Qualifications:
Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP1,2,3) - awarded by The London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF).
The apprentice is assigned a dedicated experienced mentor to guide them through the programme. Regular scheduled interactions with the apprentice ensure they are developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become competent in the role.
To help prepare the apprentice for the CeMAP qualification, Apprentices are provided with Simply Academy’s CeMAP resource package, alongside a structured study plan supported by a series of live revision sessions with our CeMAP tutors.

Other requirements
You must be able to cover at least 2 afternoons until 5.30pm. The office is in a rural location but is on the main bus routes. Some working from home opportunities may be available on occasion (not to be relied upon).
