£17,000 a year

Starting salary of £17k At 6 months’ salary increase to £18k dependent on progress At 12 months’ salary to increase to £19k depending on progress A further pay increase will be discussed upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship.

What you'll do at work

Summary:

The successful candidate, who will be reporting to the department manager, will be responsible for order management, dealing with customer enquiries, export documentation, customs entries, raising of AWB’s / bills of lading and working in close cooperation with our offices while servicing UK customers.

The applicant must be proactive, organised and punctual, engaged and motivated as well as a good attention to detail.

We are looking for a person who can add extra quality to our already highly skilled team.

The main part of the job is to arrange export collections for our UK based customers with various task such as checking deliveries, issuing customs documents, generating AWB’s / bills of lading + other administrational tasks.

Key Tasks:

  • Timely and effective communication with Customers, partners and internal departments via e-mail/telephone
  • Updating / verifying the Alliance Shipping Order Management System with customer booking details
  • Effective monitoring to ensure deliveries are completed within the agreed timelines and keeping the client informed
  • Ensure that all Collection consignments are conforming to correct information
  • Pro-active problem solving with customers and colleagues when issues arise
  • General Day to Day administrative duties including custom clearances

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Select freight forwarding services based on customer requirements, taking into account country specific factors, delivery times and modes.
  • Use generic or bespoke ICT systems in order to enter and monitor data on importing or exporting goods.
  • Book, plan and monitor international shipments, using manual or ICT systems, in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned.
  • Prepare a customs declaration to a national standard, or give custom clearance instructions to a third party.
  • Use data systems to submit the information required by customs authorities as part of the management of the international movement of goods.
  • Produce freight costings and invoices in line with Incoterms, customer profile or sales contract.
  • Identify and source data from customers, systems or colleagues.
  • Identify and resolve problems in line with responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Adapt communication based on the situation and the audience.
  • Identify problems outside of limits of responsibility and escalate within company policy.
  • Communicate in writing, preparing communications on technical matters.
  • Communicate with others verbally, including internal and external customers.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:
