£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice at CAPTEC you will start as a valued team member, learning to:

  • Set up & operate a variety of conventional & CNC machines, and undertake turning, graining, deburring, masking, powder coating, pressing, punching and assembling a wide variety of parts
  • You will follow operation sheets, to ensure parts are progressed through the factory on time
  • Achieve set production times and targets
  • Read and interpret drawings & quality specifications
  • You will gain an extensive knowledge of materials working to defence and aerospace standards
  • You will learn the finishing processes such as spray-painting, silk-screen printing and engraving
  • Carry out quality checks
  • Work safely in compliance with Health and Safety law and in accordance with the company's policies
  • Undertake other duties that may reasonably be required

Your training plan

As an apprentice at CAPTEC you will be employed in our factory with day release, off-site, college-based learning at Farnborough College of Technology.

You will earn a certificate for completing the Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticship Standard.

The day release scheme allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry-specific competence. You will be supported by both the staff at Cove and at the College. 

Farnborough College of Technology is less than 2 km away.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

English, Maths, (grade 4-9)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
