Summary
In the role you will gain valuable experience as you shadow colleagues and over time take on more responsibility. In this role, you will be undertaking the Level 3 Construction Support Technician apprenticeship and will be studying at College 1 day/week and be on site the other 4 days a week.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Providing support to the Project Planner and wider team
- Working with the Project Planner to present and discuss any changes to the project programme
- Update and monitor progress in both programmes with the support of the wider team
- Help to ensure the programmes are resourced and show design, procurement and construction phases with a clearly defined critical path and key milestone dates
- Working with the Commercial team to produce procurement schedules and update as required
- Working with the Design Management team and Designers to produce schedules of deliverables and update as required
- Ensuring all reports for internal and external use are produced and submitted at the required time
- Assisting with the development of internal and external reporting
- Liaising with subcontractors and design consultancies to ensure programmes are received, checked, and incorporated into the main overall programme in the correct timescales
- Ensuring all programmes are stored correctly for future reference
- Assisting in the creation of production outputs for future reference when developing programmes

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Apply and integrate appropriate mathematical and technical knowledge in the completion of built environment site and/or office processes to contribute to the coordination of construction projects.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and procedures. Identify and document risks and hazards. Apply statutory and company environmental and safe working practices. Produce construction project risk assessment and method statements.
- Communicate verbally to internal and external stakeholders using a range of techniques in line with company policies.
- Interpret and abstract contract documentation to develop site solutions.
- Apply digital construction processes to produce resource lists from tender and contract documentation.
- The use of project tendering, measurement and costing systems to assist with the planning of schedules of work and to provide early warning of problems for all contract phases on site.
- Plan, carry out and manage own work in line with management requirements, assessing tasks, scheduling work, achieving deadlines, reviewing performance and keeping records of work undertaken.
- Apply sustainable principles and low carbon processes in order to implement site environmental solutions.
- Use information technology. For example, for document creation, communication, and information management. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Plan and undertake continued professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence in their own area of practice.
- Communicate in written form to internal and external stakeholders using a range of techniques and reporting mechanisms in line with company policies, using construction and built environment terminology.

Your training plan
Apprentices will be completing their qualification at our Barkers & Kensington site and are required to attend college (on their premises) once a week.
Apprentices are only required to complete functional skills in maths and English if they have not met the initial GCSE (or equivalent) A* - C grade (4 - 9) entry requirements on the programme.
Once our successful candidate completes their programme, they will have achieved an apprenticeship qualification in Construction Support Technician Level 3.
