Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised person to join our busy accountancy practice. Your role will include supporting our team in all areas of accountancy, working alongside senior staff members to ensure all day-to-day operations run smoothly. We are a growing business and there is career progression available for the right candidate.

Wage

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The duties and responsibilities involved in this role will involve:  

  • Book-keeping
  • General administration duties
  • Photocopying
  • Telephone - dealing with general enquiries
  • Organising accounts paperwork into order
  • Completing Excel spreadsheets and inputting data
  • Using Microsoft Packages, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Inputting data into internal systems with a high level of accuracy
  • Assisting with company secretarial duties on behalf of clients
  • Assisting all members of the team as and when required
  • Ensuring that the Policies of the company are observed, and that good practice is encouraged, particularly in the areas of Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and confidentiality

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer. 

Day release:

You will undertake the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 standard.     

Apprenticeship search / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed.  

You will undertake both on and off the job training by a team of industry-qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

You must be able to travel to and from work and college. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
