Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Learn from experienced and dedicated colleagues
- Support children with a range of complex needs
- Celebrate the achievements of the children
- Prepare resources as requested by classroom staff
- Be aware of your responsibilities in line with school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety and communication policies
- Monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the academy's expectations
- Work as part of a whole-school team to ensure that the children throughout school are given every opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally
- Develop positive relationships with colleagues and children
- Use ICT resources to support pupils' learning
- Have a caring, encouraging and positive attitude towards your tasks
- Support the children during educational visits off-site

- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
- Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- The training will be based at Gosberton House Academy with the assessor visiting you on site every 4-6 weeks
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required

GCSE or equivalent in:
