Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
A great opportunity has arisen at Fergal O'Brien's yard for an equine groom apprentice. All general yard duties to include:
- Mucking out/ keeping yard tidy
- Filling haynets/water buckets
- Grooming/ Tacking up
- Putting horses on and off the horse walker
- Chance to go to race days with the horses you are taking care of
- Ridden pathway available to suitable candidates
Applicants must be competent and confident carrying out all daily racing yard tasks and activities.

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training plan
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

GCSE in:

- Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements
There is accommodation available on site for under 18's, please make sure if applying locally you can get there and back daily for the correct times as it is not accessible by public transport. No livery for own horse. Can be a ridden or Non Ridden Racing pathway.
