Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Teaching Assistant, no two days are ever the same
You will work closely with class teachers and support staff to help provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment
Throughout the week, you will: Support individual pupils or small groups with their learning, helping them to access the curriculum and make progress
Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and activities, ensuring lessons run smoothly and pupils are engaged
Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development in line with school policies
Help supervise break and lunchtime routines, encouraging safe and positive play
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including school events and enrichment opportunities
This hands-on role will provide you with a deep understanding of school life and a solid foundation for a future career in education

Your training plan

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation
At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying

More training information

You will work towards the completion of a Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship level 3
Functional Skills in English and maths if required
Training will be delivered face to face, online and through webinars
The school will provide in-house training
