Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties will include the following:

  • Follow drawings and instructions to build furniture
  • Choose the right materials, tools, and fittings
  • Cut and prepare materials carefully
  • Put furniture parts together accurately
  • Add finishes like paint, varnish, or sealant if needed
  • Check finished items for quality
  • Help fix or adjust any returned items
  • Keep your workspace clean and safe using PPE
  • Visit customer sites to help with planning or fitting (if required)
  • Suggest ideas to improve designs or how work is done
  • Work with the team to meet deadlines
  • Learn and follow company design standards
  • Help make custom furniture using different materials
