Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to Join Lily Comms as an Accounts Assistant Apprentice, playing a key role within the Finance department. You’ll work alongside experienced finance professionals and provide vital support to the team. You will work towards AAT L2 with opportunities to further progress.

The Finance department plays a crucial role, supporting Lily on its growth journey and the Accounts Assistant Apprentice role is an important, integral member of the Finance team.

The role after training will include;

  • Process and issue accurate sales ledger invoices to customers
  • Accurately processing purchase ledger invoices for multiple suppliers
  • Processing expenses onto accounting software
  • Handling inbound calls
  • Monthly reconciliation and allocation of supplier accounts
  • Completing monthly reconciliation of Lily’s main funder ledgers i.e CF
  • Setting up new direct debit instructions for customers & processing changes where necessary
  • Managing tickets in our customer portal
  • Dealing with ad-hoc customer/ supplier queries such as statement requests & payment enquiries
  • Taking on ad-hoc tasks within finance function where necessary
  • Work towards achieving AAT Level 2 qualification with ambition to progress further

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as required by the organisation. Staff are expected to be flexible in their work in order to deliver the objectives of the organisation.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

As an Accounts Assistant Apprentice, you will complete the following qualifications as part of your apprenticeship:

  • Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
  • Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • This apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace and 20% of your working time will be dedicated towards training and learning new skills

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

maths & English & 3 other subjects (grade 5/ C or above)

Other requirements

Make sure you can travel to the place of work on a daily basis. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). Progression to further AAT qualifications. Apply early as the role will close early if sufficient applications are received.
