Summary

An opportunity has arisen to undertake a Pharmacy Customer Service Apprenticeship with a difference at Newington Pharmacy. Working and training in a pharmacy you will gain the skills and experience required as a starting point for a career as a dispenser. The role will include serving customers, taking payments and also taking deliveries.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties will include:

  • Serve customers
  • Develop product knowledge and regulations
  • Provide excellent levels of customer service
  • Deal with customer enquiries in a sensitive manner
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Take cash and card payments
  • Take deliveries
  • Maintain stock levels
  • Stock rotation and merchandising
  • Use internal IT system and procedures
  • You will work a range of shifts to cover the opening hours of the pharmacy and work alternative Saturdays

  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Your training plan

Hull College will deliver the apprenticeship standard:

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Plus, functional skills maths and English Level 1/2 if required

More training information

You will attend Hull college 1 day per monthly. Also, the Skills Coach will visit you in the setting.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3)
  • Maths (grade 3)

Newington Pharmacy was opened on 2nd January 2007 by Pharmacists Les Sugarman & Keith Sykes with a view to bringing back the values of great customer service & friendly advice to a community they had served for over 20 years between them.

After this apprenticeship

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the employer would be willing to provide the professional qualifications needed to become a dispenser to the right candidate.
