Excellent opportunity working for an established shipping company with 50 years of experience in the maritime industry. You will be part of a busy and energetic Customer Service Department, which communicates directly with our customers and other departments within Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
There are four customer service sections in total, each with their own unique job functions. We are currently hiring for an Apprentice to join our Customer Service Department, Traffic Section.
Customer Services Traffic - (Export Bookings):
- Take bookings – Input booking in system
- Haulage – Input booking and check with LOG-IMS for equipment/haulage availability
- Extra Charges – Advise customers of any additional charges incurred (e.g. vehicle detention or wasted costs)
- Invoice – Invoice customer for extra charges and chase payment for non-credit customers
- Damaged container – liaise with customer if container damaged at load site
- Car shipments – Provide V5 to the police for checking
- Web bookings – Assist customers with web booking queries
- Customer Helpline – Handling customer’s queries regarding export matters

Course contents
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
- Maintain informative communication during service recovery.
Your training plan
Customer Service Level 2:
Training schedule has yet to be agreed. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. Details will be made available at a later date.

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

After this apprenticeship
A possible future position at the company may be offered, provided that a vacancy is available and the apprentice successfully completes the course. The company reserves the right to withdraw the offer if the course is not completed. Upon successful completion of the course, and provided there is an available vacancy, the apprentice will be given first priority to apply for a permanent position. Following this, there is potential for a pay rise, depending on their educational level.
