Sytner - Mercedes- Benz is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Level 3 Apprentice Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Apprentice to join their team. You will be learning how to carry out duties such as preparing, spraying and finishing vehicles that have been involved in collisions and/or other incidents in an efficient manner.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Working for Sytner MINI, the successful candidate will perform repair, surface preparation and painting to the manufacturer paint specification.

Duties will include:

Working alongside the current staff to repair and paint customer vehicles
Involvement in drying and curing techniques used in the finishing of vehicles
Calculation/estimation of paint volume requirements per job
Health & safety and compliance requirements of a collision repair business, such as control of substances
Identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment

What you'll learn

Course contents

Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment

Training to be provided:

Nationally recognised qualifications
IMI Apprenticeship in Vehicle Damage Paint Technician (Standard – Level 3)
Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English (if required)

Regular review and welfare visits from our assessors who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace.

Candidates must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours. Candidates must also be willing to travel to Emtec, Ruddington in Nottingham to complete the block release training.

GCSE or equivalent in:

Maths and English (grade 9-5)
