Summary
We are looking for two teaching assistant apprentices to work at our wonderful school. Treetops is based in Grays, Essex and is a day special school for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 who experience moderate learning difficulties.

Apprentices pay will be paid term-time only with payments spread over 12 months.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Work with individuals or small groups of children under the direction of teaching staff
- Establish positive relationships with pupils who are supported
- Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher
- Support pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy
- SkillsSupport the use of ICT in the classroom and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use
- Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task
- To respect confidentiality at all times
- Participate in the evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour

- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
College day release will take place at Dilkes Academy, South Ockendon or Chelmsford College depending on where the apprentice lives. Day release at college will take once per week.
