Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

A private yard contained in a lovely setting with outdoor school. The employer competes weekly nationally and therefore, there are endless opportunities to train and learn.

For this position, the duties will include (but not be limited to);

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out
  • Grooming
  • Clipping
  • Plaiting
  • Lunging

The client is happy to accept a rider or non-rider for this position. If a rider, you must be competent as the location only have competition fit horses.

Your training plan

Working towards a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship standard. All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Livery possible for your own horse if required. There is no accommodation available, however it is accessible by public transport, and very close to a bus stop, and 1 mile from the train station. Please make sure you can get to and from the yard daily before applying for this role. This role is for a senior equine groom, so to be successful in your application, you must already hold a Level 2 apprenticeship/ qualification or comparable experience.
