Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The apprentice will experience all aspects of manufacturing, gaining experience in departments such as:

  • Stores
  • Surface Mount
  • Conventional Assembly
  • Test and Inspection
  • Electromechanical Assembly
  • Learn about manufacturing processes
  • Programming of equipment
  • Problem solving
  • Production engineering

They will be supported by a mentor who will help in developing skills and follow the training plan.

For the right person there is the opportunity to progress to a permanent role within DJ Assembly, joining the team on a full time basis.

Your training plan

  • Level 2 Lean manufacturing operative standard, 12 month apprenticeship course
  • Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths will be provided for those without. Apprentices must also take the test for level 2.
  • Training on site at DJ Assembly, Huntington
  • Recruiting now for 2025/2026
