Summary

Seeking an industrious apprentice keen to learn in our warehouse. You will be involved in every aspect of a busy warehouse and will work with a team, who are responsible for keeping an orderly warehouse; taking delivery of stock, checking/counting stock received, accurately booking it onto our internal system, and putting the stock away.

Wage

£15,704 a year

Weekday Shifts are between 7.00am and 6.30pm and some Saturday shifts of 9am to 1pm. Shifts to be confirmed. Monday to Friday there are 2x 15 minute breaks.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Take delivery of stock, check/count stock received, accurately book it onto our internal system, and put the stock away
  • Pick, pack, label & despatch customers’ orders
  • Checking stock for differences between the system and physical stock on a daily basis
  • Maintain warehouse organisation and cleanliness
  • Communicate effectively with the warehouse team, other departments and management to help resolve operational and customer service issues
  • Use of Forklift and other equipment to move stock

  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan

  • Full on-the-job and off-the-job training will be delivered and supported by our Training Provider – Davidson Training UK Ltd.
  • All training will be carried out within the workplace during working hours
  • Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Standard at Level 2
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and mathematics (if you already do not hold the equivalent)
  • Full training will be given, leading to a recognised Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Standard at Level 2

  • The apprenticeship is delivered through a mixture of workplace training, MS Teams with an eportfolio that has access to resources for study and activities to ensure and evaluate knowledge, skills, and behaviours (a blended learning approach)

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4-9)
  • Maths (grade 4-9)

Other requirements

The job is physically demanding and involves a lot of walking, lifting and bending.Working in a warehouse will also mean you are on your feet for a lot of the day. You may need to use a forklift truck to help you to move stock. Training will be provided in the safe operation of these where required.
