Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our experienced team in both pre-contracts design & budgeting and onsite construction projects. Over the years D&P have developed a strong relationship with principal contractors and undertake work in a variety of construction projects, like commercial offices, laboratories, and state facilities.

Monday to Friday 8am- 5pm with one hour lunch break. There may be the possibility of some evening work when required.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Producing, collating and ratifying high level consolidated cost and expenditure reports across projects
  • Overseeing the monthly valuation process for projects on site
  • Setting and overseeing the financial contingency built into projects and ensure that contingency allowances reflect the current programme position
  • Reviewing potential contractor and supplier claims the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement
  • Overseeing the finalisation of contractor's accounts and close out contracts for projects

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Your training plan

  • You will attend London South Bank University 1 day per week for your study day
  • The onsite University training will be based at London South Bank University, Southwark Campus

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language (grade 4-9/A*-C)
  • Maths (grade 4-9/A*-C)

A Level in:

ANY (grade DD)

BTEC in:

National Diploma in ANY subject (grade PPP)
