Summary

Danielle is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join her team. She runs a small SJ sales and breeding yard so would suit someone wanting to do the breeding pathway. Hours are 40 per week over 5 days and to include 1 weekend day per week.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Danielle is looking for someone to help with aspects of yard work to include:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning in and out, changing rugs, picking out feet
  • Feeding, filling haynets, filling water buckets
  • Tacking up and untacking
  • Lunging
  • Helping with the brood mares and foals

Training schedule

Equine Groom Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours
  • Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Experience with horses a must, preferably current experience and with dealing with fit strong competition horses. Not to be afraid of hardwork and work well as part of a team, good sense of humour a bonus. There is no accommodation available with this position , it is close to Whitchurch train station. Please make sure you can get yourself to and from the location daily before applying.
