Summary

Jayroc Stables are looking for a new member to join their team. They are predominantly a Carriage driving yard competitively and for pleasure, but they also hack jump and school the horses, This is a excellent and rare opportunity to learn all about carriage driving from a top driver Russell Hand.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

All general yard duties to include:

  • Mucking out, sweeping yard
  • Filling haynets / water buckets
  • Turning horses in and out / rugging up
  • Putting horses on and off the horse walker
  • Tacking up for driving as well as ridden
  • Riding available for the successful candidate

Other requirements

You must be confident dealing with big, fit competition horses, this yard is accessible by train and bus although there is a short walk from the bus stop to the yard, so please make sure you have looked into where the yard is and how you would get there everyday before applying.

Jayroc Stables is a large (61) horse yard set in the Shropshire countryside, it is mainly a Carriage Driving yard, Russell Hand and Abbie Hutchings compete at all the top competitions all over the country doing Traditional, precision and pleasure driving. The horses are also schooled , hacked and jumped.

After this apprenticeship

  • Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom and or a full time position at the yard
