Summary

Deliver a superior customer experience to our Maersk customers and be proactive in identifying issues and mitigating them, ensure issues raised are resolved quickly. Closely collaborate with other teams within and across Station/DOC. Act as the first point of contact for customers and actively build strong relationships with customers.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Customer Relationship:

  • Be the primary point of contact for customers and act as an advocate for the customer internally; Actively build strong relationships with customers and gain an understanding of their business, service needs, drivers and desires

Customer Experience:

  • Own customer experience. Strive to achieve best-in-class Customer Service

Process execution:

  • Ensure smooth execution of the end-to-end shipment by working closely with customer and internal stakeholders

Standard Adherence:

  • Adhering to process in line with the agreed execution Standards and customer specific IOP’s and monitor respective KPI’s

Business growth:

  • Identify and execute upselling opportunities; Driving value through the network

  • Select freight forwarding services based on customer requirements, taking into account country specific factors, delivery times and modes.
  • Use generic or bespoke ICT systems in order to enter and monitor data on importing or exporting goods.
  • Book, plan and monitor international shipments, using manual or ICT systems, in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned.
  • Prepare a customs declaration to a national standard, or give custom clearance instructions to a third party.
  • Use data systems to submit the information required by customs authorities as part of the management of the international movement of goods.
  • Produce freight costings and invoices in line with Incoterms, customer profile or sales contract.
  • Identify and source data from customers, systems or colleagues.
  • Identify and resolve problems in line with responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Adapt communication based on the situation and the audience.
  • Identify problems outside of limits of responsibility and escalate within company policy.
  • Communicate in writing, preparing communications on technical matters.
  • Communicate with others verbally, including internal and external customers.

    • International Freight Forwarding Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
    • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
    • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

    This apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace:

    • You will have a dedicated assessor who will provide guidance and monitor progress throughout
    • You will have access to an online portfolio to allow you to monitor your progress and log work completed

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English and Maths (grade 4-9 (or equivalent) in English)
