    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Harmony Hair and Beauty Salon is an established hair salon based on Skipton Road in Harrogate. This fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate will offer the opportunity to train as an Apprentice Hair Stylist.

You will be working with the Salon Manager and other senior staff, with the opportunity to be involved in assisting with the day to day running of the salon. You will also learn all aspects of becoming a professional and fully qualified stylist with day release to Harrogate College one day a week. Initially you will watch and support the Manager.
 
You will be responsible for providing an excellent customer service to every client from washing hair to making hot drinks. Meeting and greeting the clients in a professional and polite manner and taking payment from the customer. You will also assist the stylists and keep the salon tidy.
 
You will be trained in all aspects of hairdressing from basic shampooing and conditioning treatments, to blow drying, mixing colour and hair styling for all types of hair and clientele.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
