Estio Training has an exciting new opportunity for an Apprentice Web Developer working for a family run commercial energy consultancy.

Watt Utilities has a varied and challenging role with great prospects in the industry for someone with a genuine interest in Website Development

The role will involve on-going development of our website, data management and CRM. We would like to see someone who can contribute ideas on structure, technology and usability. The ideal candidate would be a pragmatic problem-solver who understands best practice and can show initiative in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help develop our website
  • Assist with data management
  • Help with smooth running of the company’s CRM
  • Contribute ideas on structure and technology for the company
  • Help with design of the website
  • Analyse data

Requirements and prospects

Personal qualities


  • Some knowledge of PHP
  • Knowledge of MySQL
  • Familiar with HTML and CSS
  • An understanding of Laravel
  • Interest in usability, interface design and basic knowledge of networking
  • Server admin and technical support ( Essential )
  • Knowledge of best security practices

Qualifications required

5 GCSE’s at grades A*- C or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Training provider

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive eleven weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience. 

Training will lead to industry-recognised qualifications including: 

  • Advanced apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals 
  • Level 3 Diploma in Professional 
  • Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals 
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles 
  • Functional skills, Maths L2, English L2 and ICT L2 
  • PLTS and ERR

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
