The successful candidate will be participating in the following duties on a daily basis:

  • To work as part of the nursery team to provide high quality care and education for the children
  • To supervise and play with the children
  • To oversee activities which cover all areas of children's development
  • To liaise with and support parents and carers
  • Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery e.g preparing snacks and cleaning
  • Ensure good hygiene and cleanliness is maintained at all times
  • To support the team in providing effective planning for the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Ensure all nursery policies and procedures are adhered to
  • To attend in and out of working hours activities e.g staff meetings
  • To work in a professional, efficient and caring manner at all times

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has the ability to work well in a team but who is also able to use their own initiative and work independently.
  • The successful candidate will need to be a confident individual with a caring manner
  • You will be required to work to training deadlines with good time management skills.

  • A helpful and friendly approach is essential
  • A smart appearance is essential
  • Willingness to succeed as a childcare worker

Qualifications required

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills of GCSE grades A*-C or equivalent.

Future prospects

Possible progression onto level 3 apprenticeship if funding is available.

  • You will be assigned and assessor who will visit you once a month to track your progress and go through your NVQ work with you.
  • All work will be done at the setting so no college days will be required.

With effect from 1st October 2015 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices will be £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
