Digital agency based in the Northern Quarter, Manchester require an excellent PHP/MySQL, HTML 5 and CSS developer - an all-rounder, equally comfortable with front- and back-end development. Ideally you will have some experience of WordPress. CakePHP or other PHP MVC framework experience also desirable but not essential. Native mobile app (iOS/Android) building experience would also be a handy bonus.

About OH Digital:
You will be working in a small and busy team who have a large portfolio of regional and national clients - including HOME, the Royal Exchange, Bruntwood, BBC, Big Issue North, Castlefield Gallery, Manchester Craft & Design Centre, The Daily Mash, the Whitworth and Manchester University.

Duties:

  • Implementing code using PHP
  • Using the MySQL database systems.
  • Building/coding websites using the Wordpress content management system.
  • Building HTML emails.
  • Maintaining the web software and systems for clients.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Required:

  • Some Front-end knowledge in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Some Back-end knowledge PHP/MySQL - WordPress, CakePHP or other MVC frameworks.
  • Organisational and time-keeping skills.
  • Written and communications skills.
Beneficial:
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop
  • Experience of JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery
  • Experience and knowledge of app development (iOS and Android)

Qualifications required

5 GCSE’s at grades A*- C or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Training provider

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.
Learners will receive nine weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
