Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Based near the centre of Derby, Why Not Test Equipment repair and supply electrical test equipment to the industry. They boast a massive customer list which includes the likes of Rolls Royce and Bombardier.

The admin tasks you will be completing with assist in your engagement work, this will include;

  • Looking after the new ecommerce website.
  • Emailing customers with updates on the company and services you can offer.
  • Keeping the specialist database up to date with your engagement activities.
  • General office duties.
  • To help you complete your engagement activities you will have continued support from the management and even given your own area to look after.
  • Contacting existing customers offering your services.
  • Ensuring all your customers are aware of the services you can offer.
  • Contacting new customers to generate business.
  • Account managing all current customers.
  • Emailing quotes to the customers you have spoken to.
  • Taking bookings from customers to repair the equipment.

Things to consider

Must be able to travel to employer premises on a daily basis. The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
