Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in Childcare. You will be working alongside qualified professionals whilst studying towards your Childcare qualification. Been part of this established setting you will be able to gain new skills and build experience which will benefit you for your career in childcare. You will be working with children from ages 1-5 years old helping them develop academically and socially. You will expected to be dedicated to the nursery providing excellent service and helping the children develop naturally whilst also providing a safe environment at all times.

Duties will include but not be limited to –

  • Setting up Activities for Children
  • Interacting and helping the child develop
  • Demonstrate an initiative to plan activities
  • Ability to establish a relationship with the children and team
  • Changing nappies
  • Keeping environment safe
  • Help prepare meals
The role will vary on a daily basis but you will work as the Nursery apprentice therefore is a vital support in all running projects. The role will need you to use your initiative and be confident in your duties. The role will also require you to be a bubbly kind and helpful person.

Training provider


  • Full Apprenticeship Training Level 2 and then Level 3 will be provided by ESG
  • All training done on site at work, no day release
  • You will also be working towards a technical certificate, ERR (employer rights and responsibilities and functional skills in maths, English and ICT if not already achieved.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.30 per hour from the 1st October 2015. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
