    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

With the guidance of the experienced team you will learn how to;

  • Style & finish hair
  • Cut, using basic techniques
  • Colour & lighten hair
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Advise and consult with clients

Other Key task will be:

  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Answering the phone and taking appointments
  • Assisting the stylists
  • General housekeeping to ensure salon is kept tidy.

Other information

With effect from October 1st 2015 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
