A fantastic training opportunity has arisen for a Hospitality Services Apprentice to work as part of the kitchen team at The Sutherland Arms.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to prepare starters and desserts
  • Meeting and greeting customers
  • Bar work
  • General tidying and washing up

There will also be a requirement to use the till and handle cash but full training will be given. The Apprentice will be required to replenish stocks within the kitchen.

The successful candidates will be outgoing and confident with a smart and presentable appearance. They will be friendly, professional, and will fit into a team who have worked together for many years.
They must have the ability to work under a little bit of pressure, and be willing to work weekends and during busy evening period

Qualifications required

Good understanding of numeracy and literacy.

GCSE qualifications at grade C or above in English and maths or the ability to work towards Level 1 Functional Skills.

Future prospects

There is an opportunity of further training and full time employment upon completion of the Apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Due to the nature of the role, the Apprentice will be required to work a variety of shift patterns to include evening, weekends, and bank holidays.

Preferable 18+ as there may be bar work as part of the role.

You will need your own transport due to the location of the Sutherland Arms.

The Current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.30 per hour from the 1st October 2015. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
