Estio Training has an exciting new opportunity for a Software Development Apprentice in Liverpool.

This company is a national client base and specialise in multi-asset value investing. This company find assets that they believe to be undervalued and buy them. Seneca then actively manage funds to release value and deliver income and capital growth.

They are looking for an Apprentice Software Developer to join the team to learn, gain and develop the skills necessary to assist in project definition, design, build and deployment of in house computer programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall design, build and maintenance of in house software 
  • Lead project definition activities in selected areas of the in house software development process 
  • Take lead responsibility for the design, build and maintenance of agreed aspects of in house software, as required on a project basis with the IT manager

All responsibilities may relate to: 

  • Portfolio management and administration systems 
  • CRM, Holding Register & Sales MI system 
  • Fund management research system

  • Excellent general IT skills 
  • Excellent and flexible organisational skills, including the abilities to work to tight deadlines and prioritise 
  • Ability to independently manage and deliver IT projects on time and to budget 
  • Ability to evaluate complex information and system requirements from a user perspective, and to translate these into effective systems through analytical and problem solving skills.

Personal qualities


  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop and Desktop Applications C#, SQL
  • HTML

Qualifications required

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s Grade C+ (including Maths) or equivalent)
  • Computing related college qualification (if appropriate)
  • A-Levels (Computing, Maths, Business Studies - if appropriate) or equivalent.

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive nine weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

Training will lead to industry-recognised qualifications including:

  • Advanced apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals
  • Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
  • Functional skills, Maths L2, English L2 and ICT L2
  • PLTS and ERR

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
