Care apprentice required to work in the Wellingborough, Irchester, and Rushden areas of Northamptonshire.

Working with young people who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders and challenging behaviours.

You will be involved in all aspects of care and education of the young people with autism.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Autism Spectrum would be an advantage but not essential

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Show initiative, flexibility and be calm in a crisis
  • Show a willingness to learn
  • Be reliable, positive and punctual
  • Be physically fit to cope with demanding and challenging clients
  • Be committed to personal development and training
  • Preferably have own transport due to getting between sites and to head office for training
  • Be able to work shift patterns

Qualifications required

  • Level 2 in Health & Social care or equivalent
  • Level 1 Functional Skills or GCSE Grade D or above in English & Maths

Other information

The induction programme consists of 11 days training within the first three months.  Employment starting as soon as completed references and enhanced DBS checks are completed.

From October 1st 2015 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
