Summary

We are recruiting for a Maintenance apprentice and welcome applications from individuals with a strong interest in understanding how things work and ideally some experience in design, assembly, or repair at a hobbyist level. The successful candidate will join our maintenance team and undertake a L3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Gaining a full working knowledge in all aspects of maintenance, including learning to diagnose faults leading to repair as well as maintaining facilities process equipment
  • Assisting and supporting with planned and reactive maintenance, as well as consult with internal stakeholders and subcontractors
  • Complying with statutory, quality and organisational and health and safety regulations whilst carrying out manufacturing techniques
  • Ensuring that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within a high value manufacturing environment
  • Working on a broad range of activities including installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going planned maintenance of complex equipment
  • Using and interpret a range of engineering data sources and supporting documentation
  • Using lean techniques to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Where appropriate, supporting installation, testing and commissioning of a wide range of equipment
  • Conducting complex fault diagnosis and repair on high technology engineered systems
  • Maintaining mechanical/electrical equipment
  • Minimising machinery downtime by conducting preventative planned maintenance
  • Confirming testing and subsequent smooth hand over of equipment and plant
  • Reading mechanical/electrical schematics
  • Using basic hand tools

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Dual Science (grade 4+)
  • English (grade 4+)
  • Maths (grade 4+)
