You’d be based at their Rotherham site and assist with the production of their unique products.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Fabricator/Welder, you'll be initially responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Carry out fabrication and welding activities including welding pipework, use of a MIG/TIG set, various tooling and equipment;
  • Accurately interpret technical drawings;
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts;
  • Working to quality standards required for the components;
  • Carrying out installation work when required;
  • Weld joints in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements (TIG, MIG);
  • Use a variety of manual equipment to shape, form and cut metal;
  • Undertake final inspections of finished components;
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and productive work area for colleagues and yourself;
  • When trained, ensure job timings are met/exceeded.

You’ll develop your skills alongside trained engineers who are eager to pass on their knowledge, helping you learn a variety of duties and how to support the whole business. The book does not stop with fabrication and welding, you’d also have the opportunity to develop mechanical and hydraulic skills. You’ll be mentored to achieve your full potential and create the foundation of a career in engineering.

The successful candidates will continue their studies with apprenticeship specialists, RNN Group at their Rotherham College campus on a day release format, giving you the training and support you need to become an all-rounded and successful Engineer.

The Apprenticeship Standard you will be studying is Engineering Operative - Fabrication/Welding - Level 2.
