What you will do in your working day

  • Respond to incoming reference requests: employment, rentals, mortgages etc.
  • Book meeting rooms and manage calendar bookings for meetings, interviews, training sessions and inductions.
  • Meet and greet visitors and candidates.
  • Create employee letters throughout the employee life cycle.
  • Liaise with the Business Support team to arrange and send flowers to employees e.g. birth congratulations, bereavement etc.
  • Update records in the HR information system (HRIS) e.g. training activity, people changes etc.
  • Complete the online information for background checks, including the scanning and uploading of identification details.
  • Create a schedule of wellbeing topics, authoring some of the topics and assisting with the organisation and delivery of wellbeing events.
  • Add speculative CVs to our Applicant Tracking System and respond to candidates.
  • Support colleagues with the creation of induction plans and events.
  • Update Carbon Tracking and other ESG reports.
  • Supporting with the preparation of meetings and events: room bookings, venue hire, arranging catering etc.
  • Collating equipment and merchandise for career events.  Including attendance at some of these events.
  • Provide general administrative support to the People and Business Support Teams as required.
  • Keeping up to date with changes and new developments in the HR profession.

The training you will be getting

Duration:
• 15 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment

Delivery model:
• Work-based training with your employer
• 10 days professional training at college
• Approximately 12 on-site or/and Teams assessment visits per year
• Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (7 days at college for each, if required)
• Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice’s time at work

Qualifications included:
• Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
• Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship

End Point Assessment:
• Knowledge test
• Portfolio based interview
• Project/improvement presentation

Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session:

Any new person applying for apprenticeship roles where Abingdon and Witney College deliver the training will be required to attend an Apprenticeship Assessment and Information Session at Witney or Abingdon campus. 

This will consist of a series of initial assessments (required prior to any apprenticeship offer), completion of essential paperwork, the opportunity to find out more about the apprenticeship process, the training included, and a forum for your questions.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £6.40 per hour from April 2024. This applies to 16 - 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
