Level 3 Teaching Assistant Duties

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly effective and inspiring teaching assistant to join our team and continue to improve outcomes for all pupils. We are looking for a candidate who shares our values and has the vision, drive, and resilience to support Raddlebarn Primary and Nursery School go from strength to strength. 

We would like to work with a flexible, organised, caring and patient teaching assistant, to join a fantastic team and develop their skills in a forward-thinking and collaborative school.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check. 

Key duties:

  • To support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.
  • This level is applicable to experienced teaching assistants whose working role calls for competence across a varied range of responsibilities.
  • Support the activities of individuals or groups
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups
  • Contribute to Support Profiles as appropriate
  • Support pupils during learning activities
  • Promote pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Contribute to the health and well-being of pupils
  • Provide support for pupils with Early English
  • Provide support for bilingual/multilingual pupils (where appropriate to the focus of the role)
  • Support children with specific needs (where appropriate to the focus of the role), for example,
    - Communication and interaction
    - Cognition and learning
    - Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
    - Sensory and/or Physical Needs
  • Support for pupils of differing abilities
  • Support pupils with English and mathematical skills
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum
  • Deliver specific interventions for individuals / groups
  • Dealing with the personal care needs of children, where appropriate, in line with the guidance of the Local Authority.
  • Observe and report on pupil performance
  • Contribute to the planning, preparation and evaluation of learning activities
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the learning environment, in and out of the classroom
  • Contribute to the management of pupil behaviour by
    - Promoting school policies with regard to pupil behaviour
    - Supporting the implementation of strategies to manage pupil behaviour
  • Contribute to maintaining pupils’ records
  • Support the maintenance of pupils’ safety and security
  • Supervise the whole class for a short time where reasonable and necessary
  • Undertake marking of pupils’ work in line with school policy, where reasonable and appropriate
  • Provide general administrative support
  • Undertake joint home visits as appropriate and in line with LA policy

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Possible full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship.
